Kit 5: 3.7V rechargeable battery
Code: BERKITSCO43.7 Volt rechargeable lithium battery for the Beeper Scolopax, with a capacity of 900 mAh.
A rechargeable lithium battery has the power of 3 common AA batteries.
With the use of a rechargeable lithium battery there are considerable advantages:
- weight reduction: using a single lithium battery instead of 3 AA batteries, the weight of the beeper is reduced
- economic savings: lithium batteries last about 4 years
- Quick battery replacement: when the battery is at the end of its life it is sufficient to order a new battery without assistance costs for replacement.

Storage temperature and charge
Storing a lithium-ion battery at the correct temperature and charge makes all the difference in maintaining its charge capacity. The following table shows the permanent loss of charge that exists with storage at a given charge level and temperature.
Permanent Loss of Capacity against Storage Conditions
Storage temperature 40% of charge 100% of charge
0 ° C (32 ° F) 2% loss after 1 year 6% loss after 1 year
25 ° C (77 ° F) 4% loss after 1 year 20% loss after 1 year
40 ° C (104 ° F) 15% loss after 1 year 35% loss after 1 year
60 ° C (140 ° F) 25% loss after 1 year 40% loss after 3 months
There is a significant benefit in avoiding depositing a fully charged lithium-ion battery. A Li-Ion battery deposited at 40% charge will last many more times than one deposited at 100%, particularly at high temperatures.
If a lithium-ion battery is deposited with too little charge, there is a risk of allowing the charge to fall below the low-voltage threshold, resulting in a non-recoverable battery. Once the charge has dropped below that level, recharging it can be dangerous. An internal safety circuit will open to prevent charging, and the battery will be completely unusable for all practical purposes.
In circumstances where a second lithium battery is available for a certain instrument, it is recommended that the unused battery be discharged to 40% and placed in the refrigerator to extend its shelf life. The batteries should be given time to warm up to room temperature for 24 hours before each charge or discharge.
Safety issues.
PRECAUTIONS:
Lithium-ion batteries can easily be damaged, catch fire or explode when exposed to high temperatures, or direct sunlight. They should not be kept in the car during the hot period. Shorting a lithium battery can cause fire and explosion.
The container of a Li-Ion battery should never be opened for any reason, they contain safety devices that protect the batteries, if damaged, these can also cause the battery to fire or explode.
ATTENTION:
Exhausted batteries must be disposed of in an environmentally friendly way, using the special containers made available by the public municipal solid waste collection service.
